Main Roles and Responsibilities of the Standards Development Department
The Standards Development Department is responsible for establishing and updating national standards that ensure quality and unify procedures across the organization. Its core tasks include the following:
Development of National Healthcare Standards
• Monitoring the latest practices and international standards in healthcare accreditation.
• Benchmarking national standards against leading global accreditation bodies to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
• Establishing and updating policies and procedures governing standards development and evaluation mechanisms.
• Preparing and updating healthcare standards programs for the accreditation of healthcare facilities and national health programs.
• Obtaining data and statistics from relevant authorities to support the selection of new programs and development plans.
• Assessing market needs for accreditation programs and updates in line with operational and strategic plans.
• Conducting field surveys for new programs prior to their approval and development.
Technical Committees and Internal Coordination
• Forming specialized national technical committees to draft and develop standards programs in line with CBAHI’s specifications.
• Supervising the work of the technical committee to ensure standards are written with quality and in compliance with approved requirements.
• Continuously updating standards manuals in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Preparing or updating evaluation mechanisms as per the adopted system, and reviewing them periodically as needed.
• Overseeing all stages of standards development and evaluation mechanisms until the program is officially launched.
• Coordinating with other departments during development or revision phases as required.
Empowerment and Support
• Preparing guidance manuals for various accreditation programs.
• Coordinating with the IT Department to establish an electronic portal dedicated to managing national standards programs.
• Providing support to the accreditation, training, and surveyor departments to ensure proper understanding of standards and evaluation mechanisms.
Continuous Engagement and Communication
• Receiving and addressing inquiries from beneficiaries regarding standards, evaluation systems, and program objectives.
• Collecting feedback and suggestions from surveyors and practitioners on accreditation programs and assessing their applicability.
• Maintaining direct communication, when needed, with relevant local and international organizations on matters related to standards development.
