Department of Research, Statistics and Information
The Research Department at the Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI) aims to conduct and supervise various specialized research projects related to the Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions. This is achieved through implementing scientific studies and publishing them in peer-reviewed journals, thereby enriching the scientific literature available to researchers, leaders, decision-makers, and healthcare practitioners.
The department is also responsible for organizing and supporting CBAHI’s research projects, contributing to the achievement of the Center’s objectives, and aligning with Vision 2030 goals and the national research priorities issued by the Research, Development, and Innovation Authority to address healthcare challenges in the Kingdom.
The Research Department’s scope includes:
• Developing the annual research plan in coordination with relevant departments.
• Preparing studies and research related to healthcare quality, patient safety, and the outcomes of evaluation and accreditation conducted by the center.
• Keeping the center informed of the latest national and international research and studies related to healthcare quality, patient safety, and accreditation, as well as updates from global accreditation bodies.
• Collaborating and building partnerships with research centers and international health organizations to implement research studies related to the center’s work.
• Participating in scientific conferences and research seminars, exchanging expertise and knowledge on scientific developments related to the center’s activities.
• Carrying out any other research-related tasks.

Future Plans:
• Establishing a scientific journal dedicated to publishing research related to healthcare and healthcare quality.
• Establishing the CBAHI’s library, which will contain international standards manuals, major local and international journals related to healthcare quality, and key reports and studies relevant to the CBAHI’s scope.

Supervisory Committee on Research
Objective:
To review all research proposals submitted and issued by the Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions and to approve or reject proposals based on defined rules and standards.
Tasks:
• Receive research proposals via the committee’s designated email.
• Maintain confidentiality of information and ensure that research ideas and proposals are not disclosed.
• Review and discuss submitted research proposals, evaluating them based on risks and potential benefits to society, and ensuring their compliance with the CBAHI’s standards and the national bioethics regulations.
• Assess the alignment of research proposals with national research priorities and relevant stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with the regulations of the National Committee of Bioethics, and follow up on the progress of approved projects.
• Review and evaluate the final versions of research projects before approval.
• Verify the accuracy, integrity, and ethical validity of research data.
• Recommend disciplinary actions for research misconduct, including negligence or breach of research ethics by researchers.
• Issue final approval for publication of research and provide recommendations for researchers to obtain support.
• Committee decisions are made by majority vote of attending members. In the event of a tie, the chairperson’s vote prevails.
• Ensure that the committee’s activities are aligned with the Center’s research strategy.
• Prepare regular reports summarizing the committee’s activities and scientific achievements and submit them to the Executive Directorate of Standards.

Statistics and Information Section
About the Section of Statistics and Information:
The Section of Statistics and Information is responsible for collecting, organizing, and analyzing quantitative data related to the center’s activities, transforming it into measurable indicators used in planning, evaluation, and decision-making processes.
The section also aims to establish centralized databases and develop statistical tools and periodic reports that support both the operational and strategic functions of the center. The section operates according to the highest standards of quality and accuracy in statistical processing and ensures the consistency and integration of data within the center’s information system.
Department Responsibilities:
1. Collect statistical data and information related to all technical activities and operations of the center, prepare, analyze and present it in a digital formats and dashboards that support decision-making.
2. Collect, classify and analyze external statistical data and information related to the healthcare sector and provide it to relevant departments.
3. Issue technical reports particularly related to quality, accreditation, sentinel events, and risk management (e.g., accreditation reports).
4. Archive and electronically register all statistical data and information, and verify their accuracy and validity.
5. Prepare and update presentations on the center’s activities and operations.
6. Provide center policymakers with the required statistical data, information, and reports.
7. Display statistical data and information on the center’s official website, in accordance with defined access permissions and data disclosure regulations, with a commitment to periodic updates.
8. Perform any other tasks related to statistics and information, as assigned by the Director of Research, Statistics, and Information.
Future Plans:
• Develop internal policies and procedures for the section, including, Data Quality, Data Privacy and Protection, Publishing and Verification, Data and Report Request Management, Internal and External Collaboration.
• Activate the role of the section in supporting the center’s strategic plan.
• Participate in preparing the center’s annual reports in a digital format.
