CBAHI committees worked in conjunction with the Ministry of Health to develop a set of standards by which all companies operating healthcare facilities must comply. The standards include statutory, financial, organizational, administrative, and technical specifications. Successful application of these standards will:
- Contribute to improved quality of healthcare services and logistics services provided to patients and their families as well as visitors and staff within healthcare facilities.
- Upgrade patient safety through reduction of staff vulnerability to error and abuse.
- A company operating a given healthcare facility is in compliance with applicable laws and legal standards in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
- The Standards have been designed to accommodate all companies operating healthcare facilities in the Kingdom, whether existing, newly established, or in the planning stages. Special focus was placed on existing shortcomings such as insufficient specialized competency in corporate governance, poor financial reporting and other business management issues.
These Standards cover all types of companies operating healthcare facilities such as:
• medical operation
• medical maintenance
• non-medical maintenance
• catering
• janitorial service
• pest control
• medical waste
• security and safety
• administrative operations
• sterilization
• laundry
Qualification certification is granted by the Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions in cooperation with the General Directorate of Medical Licenses at the Ministry of Health.
The following documents must be sent along with the application:
• Commercial Registration
• Chamber of Commerce Membership Certificate
• Zakat and Income Tax Certificate
• Social Insurance Certificate
• Saudization Rate Certificate
• Healthcare Facility Key Staff Roster
• Proof of payment of application fee
A field visit to the headquarters of the applicant company will be arranged in order to assess the company’s compliance with the required standards. Qualification Certificates will be issued to companies that meet the standards. The certificate will remain valid for three years from the date of issue. Reassessment will be carried out every three years thereafter. CBAHI may opt to reassess the company at any time before the expiration of the Qualification Certificate to ensure the company’s continued commitment to qualification standards and requirements.
A copy of the Qualification Certificate will be sent to the Directorate of Licenses at the Ministry of Health. The company’s representative may contact the Ministry of Health thereafter to ensure completion of the process and obtain the license required to operate a healthcare facility.
